Explore the Eric J. Barron Innovation Hub at PSU

Curious to see how a university facility can foster student and community entrepreneurship in a shared urban location? Take a virtual tour of the Eric J. Barron Innovation Hub, a multi-disciplinary nexus that does just that.

As Penn State's first ground-up building in downtown State College, the Innovation Hub promotes a culture of inquiry and exploration beyond the confines of campus.

In alignment with the University's enduring ethos of teaching, research, and service, it is a critical component of Penn State's entrepreneurial ecosystem, providing resources and opportunities for students across disciplines, as well as businesses and start-ups throughout Pennsylvania.

It also home to Invent Penn State, a Commonwealth-wide initiative to spur economic development, job creation, and student career success.

The 85,000-square-foot LEED Gold-targeting building features state-of-the-art entrepreneurial and innovation resources, such as rapid prototyping and fabrication labs, public co-working areas, an interactive classroom, top floor meeting spaces with panoramic views, and collaboration commons. These spaces were designed to accelerate innovation, technology, and commercialization, and support local start-up companies through knowledge sharing and mentorship.

Since opening in 2021, the Innovation Hub has assisted 500 community entrepreneurs, engaged over 1,500 students and 125 faculty and staff, graduated 142 Public Accelerator Participants, launched 22 new companies, created 19 jobs and 17 internships, and raised over one million dollars in external funds.
