The Beneficial Bank Hosts CANopy Fundraiser
CANopy, an installation and app developed by KieranTimberlake's Community Involvement group, was recently unveiled at The Beneficial Bank's headquarters at 1818 Market Street in Philadelphia, where it will be on view through November 2017. The structure is designed to be assembled in various locations, expanding the idea of a food drive into an engaging, educational, and mobile piece of artwork.
Developed in partnership with Philabundance, one of the Philadelphia area's largest hunger relief organizations, CANopy generates donations through a digital game that challenges users to select a combination of three food items that hit a target nutritional zone. Each time a user wins the game, the Beneficial Foundation will make a donation to Philabundance in the amount of $5.20, the average amount a low-income American can afford to spend on food per day.
"Philadelphia is facing a food crisis worse than the U.S. average, with one in five people experiencing food insecurity," said Glenn Bergman, Executive Director of Philabundance. "Our hope is that CANopy will drive much needed awareness to the children, seniors, families and others in our area facing hunger."
While CANopy was on display in KieranTimberlake's lobby this past year, the firm donated $5.20 to Philabundance each time a visitor won the game. This effort resulted in over $10,000, or 20,000 meals, raised to help community members in need.
CANopy is on view Monday through Friday between 8:30 AM and 5:30 PM, or you can play the game from home by clicking here.
