In January, we paid a visit to Melba and Baxter Barnes, the owners of KieranTimberlake's first completed Make It Right home—a safe, sustainable, affordable home designed for the rebuilding of the Lower Ninth Ward of New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina.

In a meeting with the home's owners and representatives from John Williams Architects and the Make It Right Foundation, we were pleased to learn that some of the owners' favorite elements of the house were features we had given the most consideration. These included the wood trellis for climbing native vines, the expansive windows in the front parlor, and the views from the roof deck. The house will soon be outfitted with an aluminum ornamental railing on the porch.
