Stephen Kieran and James Timberlake
KieranTimberlake founding partners Stephen Kieran and James Timberlake were recognized with the 35th Louis I. Kahn Award by the Center for Architecture and Design. The award, given in the name of Philadelphia architect, Louis I. Kahn, honors the most influential and accomplished architects from around the world.

“We are deeply grateful to have been selected for this year's Louis Kahn Memorial Award,” Kieran said. “The most important gift from Louis Kahn is a poetry that extends the desirability and beauty of the world about and within us all. As architects, throughout the ages, we express that poetry. We believe that the fullness of architecture is achieved by more, not less, and the more holistic the architecture, the more resonant, full, and beautiful it will become. We see no contradiction—only inspiration—between an architecture of humanism that is in equal measure an art and a science that seeks poetry through inquiry."

Stephen and James also received the AIA Pennsylvania Medal of Distinction. This award recognizes contributions to architecture that transcend local boundaries and have been of benefit to the profession and citizens of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

“We are humbled and deeply honored by this recognition,” Timberlake said. “Several previous winners of this award were mentors, consultants or teachers of ours. We continue the legacy of making great architecture that they encouraged, promoted and shared with us.”
