"We started off not by making the script, but by making physical prototypes so that we could better understand the different components involved in the pattern's design."

– Christopher Connock

How can we create a unified concrete facade when using separate casting methods for various parts?

Board-formed concrete allows designers to harness the structural advantages of concrete with the aesthetics of wood.

A variety of board widths and joint types were tested in our fabrication studio to determine inputs for a computational design script.

We developed a script to design a pattern that appears random but is easily replicated by various contractors. The script's output specifications included board width, finish, and species to help contractors place the panels in the desired order.
