Johann Mordhorst values the role that systems and structure play in defining architecture that elevates people, place, and materials.

After nearly two decades as an architect, Johann has worked on a broad range of project types and scales. Since joining KieranTimberlake in 2005, Johann has worked on several of the firm's award-winning projects including Yale University's Sculpture Building and School of Art Gallery and Morse and Ezra Stiles Colleges. He also served as the Associate in Charge of High Horse Ranch, a private residence in the mountains of Northern California, and the Consortium for Building Energy Innovation (CBEI), an energy efficient facility for Pennsylvania State University.

Johann is currently the Principal in Charge of the Foreign Affairs Security Training Center (FASTC), a hard-skills training facility for the US Department of State and foreign affairs community. He is also guiding the renovation and addition to the Folger Shakespeare Library, a national landmark building in Washington, D.C.

Outside of the office, Johann has been a guest critic and presenter at Philadelphia University, Pennsylvania State University, Virginia Tech University, and the University of Pennsylvania. At the University of Pennsylvania, he was a teaching assistant for Stephen Kieran and James Timberlake's design-research studio and contributor to Alluvium, a book highlighting the studio's seven years in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
