University of Washington to Break Ground on Interdisciplinary Engineering Building, Receives Funding from Boeing

This fall the University of Washington will break ground on a new, $90 million Interdisciplinary Engineering Building, with $10 million donated from Boeing. The state of Washington will also contribute $50 million to help foster a pipeline of local engineering talent. The project is a design-build in partnership with Hensel Phelps.

The Interdisciplinary Engineering Building's 70,000-square-foot, five-level design will provide much-needed space for project-based collaborative learning, as well as a hub for engineering undergraduates. The new building will allow the University to focus on cross-college multidisciplinary teamwork, improved diversity, and increased engagement with industry with the goal of preparing students for the engineering careers of the future.

KieranTimberlake recently completed a new campus neighborhood of student housing, dining, and other amenities at the University of Washington. Construction of the Interdisciplinary Engineering Building is scheduled to be completed by mid-2024.
