Harvard Eliot House Renewal by the Numbers

In KT’s first meeting of the year, Principal Brendan Miller outlined the scope of renewal at our fifth undergraduate River House project for Harvard University, which is currently under construction.

We are helping the university reimagine this beloved undergraduate residence for greater accessibility into a new lifecycle.

Reuse of the historic structure is estimated to reduce upfront embodied carbon by 75%, with an embodied carbon intensity of 126 kgCO₂e/m². We are also pursuing Living Future LBC Core certification and implementing Harvard’s Healthier Building Academy standards to eliminate “chemical classes of concern” from the supply chain that pose health risks and represent enormous carbon emissions.
