Carin Whitney directs the firm's communications efforts, helping to steer the discourse on design and make the language of architecture accessible to a broader public.

Carin is responsible for deepening awareness of KieranTimberlake's research-based design practices through media outreach, exhibitions, and public appearances. She oversees publication activities in print and digital media, including journal and magazine articles, awards submissions, interactive project portfolios, photography, video, and the firm website. She has directed the creation of books such as Loblolly House: Elements of a New Architecture, Cellophane House™, and KieranTimberlake: Inquiry. She also manages more than 40 public speaking events each year for firm members and helps to develop lectures and symposiums along with museum and gallery exhibitions of the firm's work. 
With advanced degrees in fine arts, Carin has previously been a printmaker and a teacher of drawing, multimedia, and papermaking. She has more than ten years of experience in marketing for the architecture industry. During her tenure, the firm has received more than a hundred design awards, including the AIA Firm Award in 2008 and the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Award in 2010.
